  3.     Our report on Jeff Weber's service of freeze-drying the
  4. deceased pets of fond owners (AMERICAN SCENE, Feb. 13) stirred
  5. up considerable interest and some ire among our readers. Many
  6. were distressed at the idea of preserving dead animals, but
  7. others, including one who had a pet kitty "in the freezer," were
  8. eager to contact Weber. George Spears in Payson, Ariz., taking
  9. note from the story that humans too can be freeze-dried, found
  10. this 1935 cartoon by James Thurber to be perfectly up to date.
